"Platonic"

I am really intrigued with this word as to what plato had got to do with this particular word. google dint help me much in finding the relation to plato...:(

it just said

"Plato did not invent the term or the concept that bears his name, but he did see sexual desire as the germ for higher loves. Marsilio Ficino, a Renaissance follower of Plato, used the terms amor socraticus and amor platonicus interchangeably for a love between two humans that was preparatory for the love of God. From Ficino's usage, Platonic came to be used for a spiritual love between persons of opposite sexes. In our own century Platonic has been used of relationships between members of the same sex. Though the concept is an elevated one, the term has perhaps more often been applied in ways that led Samuel Richardson to have one of his characters in Pamela say, “I am convinced, and always was, that Platonic love is Platonic nonsense.” "

Th elast senetence is interesting though..:D

Weekend

Last weekend was a busy one . Saturday hmm...i dont remember wot i did but i feel that must haf also been a busy day "".just remember watching kal ho na ho till 1:00 and i had tears in my eyes when sharukh dies.gaawd knows why karanjohar puts in so many emotional strings in the movie...I had to call a friend to get out of that emotional mood.

A weekend trip was arranged by our offie people to mekedatu. I was unsure to go or not to go but finally decided to go thinking its bettah i check out this part of the earth also(made sure that it is not inhabited by demons ...though dragons are there)

So I got up @ 5:30 on that sunday. As usual i got late taking bath . I got so late that i decided to ditch the idea of going but a friend of mine( who is blessed with a car) offered to pick me up on the way.So i guess fate had it that i goto mekedatu n bless that land with my presence. So i landed at the pickup place(wot can it be other than bannerghatta parking lot). We waited for other latecomers to join in...also we were waiting for the food. Finally the bus left @ 8:00. As usual the only travel time pass- "ANTAKSHARI" started. me being a novice @ old hindi songs or for that matter remembering hindi lyrics could'nt participate a great deal though i did pitch in @ crucial times..( u know that is what is necessary for team building) By the way this whole thing was called as team building activity though we were sponsoring for our own trips . That is the involvement and dedication we have to build the team. After stopping for breakfast on the way the antakshari scenes continued ...though @ times some of the songs got onto my nerves. Finally we arrived @ mekedatu( a welcome breather ).
we crossed the river in boats and reached the other side where we had to wait for some of our mates to catch up.Meanwhile some of the enthu folks got into water and one of them started exhibiting various swimming styles..:)))...
whenthe entire team was in place n we continued ...we had to walk for 3 kms (or take a bus....had energy so walked)....The walk was a gud one though long....enjoyed that bit...
Finally we reached "the place ".we got down the hilly rocks and it was a damn gud view of the river flowing in all anger n violence...we climbed onto various positions to view the same..I dint know i was so skilled @ climbing rocks with amazing balance :))...I decided that i have to venture out more on such trips..
We had to cross a stretch of rocky area to get down to teh river. This was done with elan by me n my partner( in climbing). we finally got down to the river on the other side where many ofour mates were already into water. We had a great time enjoying in the waters.
The constant thing that is always on my mind is..."Food"....I dont know why but i always think about food.
So here to i got all hungry n decided to get back . This was really tiring now n i was all panting like as though i had run for 1000's of kilometres....I decided that i wont walk back and was very firm in travelling back in bus "only". Went back in the bus n had food...it dint matter how it tasted though....relaxed for sometime ...n we headed back ....The whole bus was calm n quiet for an hour..Later the antakshari started again..this time to make matters worse they decided to sing nothing but sad and old hindi songs making my mind wonder as to whaz the kick in singing thoz songs.....why cant we all start singing rock songs...:)...aint that bettah for a change...:)...But i guess it was'nt so bad..as i got used to it and enjoyed it to some extent...reached bangalore ....got a drop back home again..reached homie @ 9:00 ...finally decided to hit the bed @ 10:00 with a dose of saridon...

Nice trip it was....guess i haf typed enuff now...hmmm....

Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever felt like you have finally got out of hell... the relief the pain n the joy...everything that you feel when you are finally out of that suffering...phew i went thru that whole feeling for the past one week....i am out...i am finally out!!!....I was smiling endlessly and at one point of time i wanted to cry also coz of the happiness...my gaawd...that was one torture!!!!....
The period of torture lasted for more than a year - 1 year 1 month to be precise and every minute was like a year for me during that time. I felt as though i was with demons and dragons with very little sense in the head. Of course humanity is the last thing that you can expect from the demons and dragons so there was no trace of that. Also the behavior of the dragons were of the worst possible nature and that which is least expected. Their arrival was subject to tension and fire all around..If i start recounting each of my experiences it is an epic in itself . Also it is hardly worth the space....so let me not...

As i am typing this i am gloating and feeling on top of the world and makes me feel that there is something called justice still left in this world.

Incase you are wondering what i am talking about ... you better continue pondering about it..:)..BTW FYI - the demons used to ride on the dragons....but who were the demons and who were the dragons...ahem..think....think....

Mumbai Odyssey

Ahem "Mumbai here i come" was my enthusiastic feeling as i was leaving.
All the mumbaikar friends that i knew had this
"Going on a vacation!!! and to mumbai!!! How Strange" look but nobody explained the reason behind that look.
It was left upto me to excavate that reason :(

This mumbai experience woke me up ,rather woke me up big time!!!..
As we landed in mumbai we headed to this hotel which we had booked(my friends' family friend had booked)
we went to the receptionist n asked him as to which room had been reserved and to kindly show us the way.We never expected as to what awaited us!!
Just imagine our exasperation when we got to know that there have not been any reservations made whatsoever. We were in a state of panic to hear this and especially at the thought of searching for a hotel @ 9:00 in the night!!!..
Anyways all doors were'nt closed.....my friend's familyfriend's brother called up and had the nerve to tell us that the bookings were cancelled and they had actually booked rooms in some other hotel!!!
So he and his chamcha tiwari came and met us....

There we went trudging behind the two hooligans(thats what they looked like at that moment) and they led us to this good looking hotel with executive suites. It was an amazing experience staying (rather sleeping) there.

But the real story of my mumbai experience were the rains which lashed on the city the moment we set our foot on it.
and it continued for 4 more days not to stop until we left the city :(

It was quite an experience travelling in the taxis, trains, walking on the roads trying to shop amidst the downpour
....and the finale was travelling by kingfisher airlines :) had heard so much about the models there . It was true i had never seen such great looking men LIVE :) and what more the food was good too....

All in All it was one of those unforgettable experiences in my life

Microsoft Tech Ed 2005

The only thing i took from here is "Amazing Pastries served at the ladies luncheon" There were some lingering moments of some lectures (which were stored in cache which have been cleared by now).
